Let's put our minds through a time machine and go 30 years back. Way back before our existence. But you are finding yourself in a very familiar environment. The music is louder than your thoughts. All your mates are sweaty just like you, but no one is stopping. Your eyes are already so used to being in this dark, old, abandoned building. You are not sure if it's Sunday or Monday, but who's keeping the track?
Yeah, that positively crazy older hairdresser of yours is there in her 20s having the time of her life. Everyone has their time, right?
Now combine past and present. But this game doesn't allow electronic devices from today's world. However, it allows the past generations to take our roles and try them out to the fullest.

They are hysterically yelling out towards the DJ and among themselves:
" What's the track ID?? Share the track ID with us ? Anyone knows what he is playing at 36:06?? "
You letting it sink in?
Music is beautiful and here to share it but..
Why is the present generation seemingly always looking for an easy way / fast way, waiting and expecting to get things served?
Did they ever experience the joy of finding the gold after hours and hours of searching and digging ?
That proud feeling of accomplishment. Even better, you come across some new undiscovered sounds. Pure underground vibe.
I repeat myself -
Yet with this new age of network connections, we lose so much. We lose our uniqueness through easy accessibility of all information. We lose the diversity between us. By allowing and giving some people "special statuses", there is also this mass trend of following and mimicking these branded people.
The aftermath is clear.
Why "waste" time finding some music for yourself when you get the whole set listed by the ones who are mass followed. It is a confirmed and safe formula.
That is something that controls the masses, that is something very popular and it is right in front of your eyes to grab it.

I'm 53, so that crazy older hairdresser was me and I agree with your sentiment wholeheartedly. I'm amazed at the number of the folks I meet in day to day life who don't harness the power of the internet to continually enhance their musical horizons or simply use it to "follow along". That said, it's ALWAYS been like this. There have always been people content to be led or stick with what they know. This is a human condition, but it's made all the more incomprehensible by today's limitless access to new music.
(See? Not only am I old, I am also cranky.)
