32.Another Year, Another Party
®️
The year 2024 is just a few weeks away. And in what kind of fuck are we going to, this time?
One thing is for sure - electronic music events, all kinds of genres and subgenres.
This year was the first whole year of partying and socializing without any restrictions. By the first half of 2022, the clubs and bigger events and gatherings have had their green light for reopening and since then, the music industry is trying to get back in full force. Clubs and businesses that survived all the pandemic lockdowns are adapting to the changing market conditions but also to other major changes on the scene and in its community.
In previous posts we discussed some of those changes. To recollect your memory or take a second read - some of them 👇👇👇

17.BANGER DJ
21.HARD
22.BREAK
26.Back to Rave
I noticed more and more articles mentioning and discussing things that have changed. It is also something that's been talked about at house parties, on afters... I mean, it's nothing new that older generations sometimes can't fully understand the new ones, especially when there's a shifting of trends going on. But the time of lockdown and post-lockdown changed the scene so drastically like never before. Then overnight clubs were open again, but the scenery, atmosphere, sound were nothing like when we "closed" those clubs only a few years prior. To be honest I think these topics are gonna stay around longer.
-We're just trying to cope with crazy mainstreamization.-
This just reminded me of this one comment I saw; comparing this new era of Techno to the EDM (EDM= embarrassing dance music now rebranded to ETM =embarrassing Techno music), when it boomed commercially.
With this hard techno fever all over the globe, industry's budget is rising massively. On top of that, freaking inflation happening everywhere.
But industry researchers are forecasting a rise in the techno music industry market, with new festivals already announced, some already known organizations are expanding and renovating, also new investors and organizers are jumping in.
Trendy DJs are now being paid like Hollywood stars, what automatically means they play only big events. A greater percentage of young folks choose festivals or big events over smaller clubs. Which leads us to one big question; what does the future of underground clubbing look like?
The scene is so massive now -but that reflects negatively on smaller clubs. Sooo, a lot of questions are flying around-is the whole scene going to become one fucking Ultra Music Festival?
Another big question about the future of the music scene - AI music production. The scene is already covered with "ghost production". Fakers buy their music, then proudly represent it as their own. But to have music produced without human feelings or human creativity is a whole new level of "we are fucked".
I'm wrapping up this year and this post with a positive thing, though!
The old school sound is regaining its popularity among the youth. It's getting its shine back with a little touch of the 2020s through artists like Funk Assault , collectives like BCCO and many more underground talents -not yet discovered.
I'm positive that the liking of the old school sound will stay with us in 2024 too.
