Celebrating my birthday recently made me think about my part in the party scene, where and how it all started. I always gladly remember my first parties, my first introduction to electronic music, to its culture and society. It was a crazy ride to get to the place where I am now. Actually, to have today's knowledge. I'm also sure I still have miles to roll.
My taste for sound has evolved so much. The styles of techno music I prefer today - years ago I didn't even know that they exist.
I went through my spiritual, my intellectual and my hearing (sense) musical evolution.
So, I'm dedicating this post to positive things or, I allow myself, to call them benefits. These things you learn with time. Of course, if you are actually interested in the whole community, what it has to offer to you and if you are ready to open your mind.
✵ The important and big thing: you figure out the subgenres or different styles of techno that please you the most. Of course, this is not some kind of formula. Every person makes his own journey to find their favourite sound. Some, maybe fall in love at the first party and rock that genre for life or at least until the end of their party career. Some experience musical evolution like my ass. However it goes, there is nothing better than to enjoy music that really touches you.
✵ Connected to your favourite sound is your knowledge of the artists who create the art as well as your knowledge of where to look for different artists and their releases for you to consume. For this one thing, you need time. Because it doesn’t matter how much you already know or how many artists you follow, you can always discover somebody or something new.

The more artists you follow, the wider is your opportunity to choose and visit events that will please your ears.
✵ Another important thing that only comes with experience and time: you learn what suits your body and soul the best to have a good quality time. This really includes everything from consume, drinks, wardrobe, shoes, even how many hours is ideal for you to party, which days of the week you prefer, what kind of venues.
However, that first woow effect, the early months up to a year or two, when you're so hyped, when everything is new and cool, that period never comes back. I believe most partygoers never forget that beginning period and we always happily remember those days. But with time your love for music grows, you are also growing with it what creates a deeper connection and musical intelligence.
