Licking Guy charmed the most. this way to the whole story
Trendy thing in the last few years - face hiding. Regular masks, ski masks and all the other things that artists these days wear on their heads. I sure am not the only one who asked herself what one thing has to do with another.
If I am. Well, the joke’s on me. Slide on to next post ⤵️
My process of thought was that the face hiding was just a marketing stunt,
one particular event recently, influenced my thoughts on the topic.
The industry is one hell of a bitch and it is not fair in any way. With the increasing popularity of electronic music, there are also a lot more enthusiasts wanting a successful music career. With a lot of fish in the sea, competition is mad.
And how does one fish stick out from the rest of them? The one looking deforming. 😂 🐡
Now back to humans.
People will do anything to get that "breakthrough" in their career. After that simple analysis, I always suspected that the masks were just there to attract attention. One night didn't change my mind completely, but it managed to soften my thoughts about face hiding.
I'm going back to that night. It is almost 7 a.m, the floor is raging. Around this time, "shift - change" happens. If you are an observer like me, you can notice that most of the younger crew is gone. Left behind are suspicious dudes, people that are in the game a bit longer. We are at the time of a party that I call adult - techno. It knocks in your head for the last 7 hours, at least. It is a perfect time for industrial. And so it was that night. We got our portion of sharpness. The dude giving it to us had a mask on. At that very moment, everything was a perfect match.
DARK - STATE OF MIND – MUSIC – MASK
He, having a mask on was actually a perfect touch to all the dirtiness going around.
Coming home with positive thoughts and still being thrilled from the experience, I checked on a masked dude. He has a really interesting story about why he wears a mask while mixing. Just like that, I decided to look deeper at the whole mask thing. This one artist managed to sell me his story. I pushed my thoughts towards art then. The whole story, the whole parade, is pure art.
On the other side, you cannot convince me that it doesn’t benefit your marketing. I also looked up other masked artists and I couldn't find another one with an original story.
Frequent reasons behind face hiding are protection of privacy and that these artists want focus to be on music only. Come on, if you put a mask on yourself and some robes, it’s obvious, you're gonna stir the pot, people will talk. However, first about your mask, second about your music.
Although I managed to look deeper into the whole thing, I still think that the majority of the masks are there just to draw attention and publicity.
Can you guess who was the one who managed to sell his story to my stubborn head?
